Welcome to CouchDegree.com! I'm Svetlana Shneyder, the owner and author of this website.
I created CouchDegree.com to share my lifelong love of television, my observations about human behavior, and the lessons I've learned from the shows that entertained me over the years.
I'm always happy when something I've written makes someone laugh, think, or remember a favorite television moment. And if you'd like to share an article with someone else, wonderful!
I just ask that you respect the work that goes into creating it.
This page explains how you may share, quote, reference, or request permission to reuse content published on CouchDegree.com.
Copyright and Ownership
Unless otherwise stated, the original articles, commentary, written materials, original illustrations, and other original creative content published on CouchDegree.com are the intellectual property of Svetlana Shneyder.
These materials are protected by applicable copyright laws.
You may not claim my original work as your own, reproduce entire articles, or commercially redistribute original website content without permission or another lawful basis.
The same applies to original downloadable resources, guides, printables, and digital products offered through CouchDegree.com or its associated storefront.
Sharing Articles and Links
You're welcome to share links to CouchDegree.com articles on social media, blogs, websites, newsletters, and in personal conversations.
You don't need my permission to tell someone about an article or link directly to it.
In fact, I encourage it. If something I write reminds you of a friend, a family member, or somebody who could use a lesson from Andy Taylor, feel free to pass it along.
When sharing, please link to the original article rather than copying the entire piece onto another website.
Quoting and Referencing My Work
You may quote brief portions of my articles for legitimate commentary, criticism, discussion, research, or other uses permitted by law.
When quoting my original writing, please provide appropriate attribution, preferably including:
My name, Svetlana Shneyder.
The name of the publication, CouchDegree.com.
A link to the original article when possible.
Attribution is appreciated, but it does not automatically authorize uses that otherwise require permission.
Copyright exceptions, including fair use, continue to apply regardless of the permissions described on this page.
Educational and Classroom Use
CouchDegree.com explores subjects that may be useful in classrooms, discussion groups, and educational settings, including sociology, communication, family relationships, social values, and media literacy.
Educators and students are welcome to link to articles, discuss their ideas, and quote appropriately under applicable copyright law.
If you'd like to reproduce an entire article in a course packet, distribute copies beyond what copyright law permits, or incorporate substantial portions into published educational materials, please contact me to discuss permission.
I welcome thoughtful educational uses of my work.
Republishing and Commercial Use
Please request permission before:
Republishing complete articles or substantial portions of my original writing.
Translating and republishing my articles.
Reproducing original illustrations or graphics for commercial or promotional purposes.
Including substantial portions of my work in books, magazines, websites, newsletters, or commercial publications.
Redistributing, reselling, or repackaging original downloadable resources or paid digital products.
Using CouchDegree.com branding in a way that suggests an official partnership or endorsement.
Permission, when granted, may be limited to a particular use, publication, format, or period.
Please do not assume that receiving no response to a request means permission has been granted.
Television Shows, Characters, and Third-Party Materials
CouchDegree.com is an independent publication featuring commentary, criticism, and educational discussion about television.
Television shows, character names, scripts, photographs, promotional images, trademarks, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective rights holders.
My original commentary belongs to me, but I do not own the television programs or characters I discuss.
I cannot grant permission to reproduce copyrighted television footage, screenshots, photographs, scripts, or other materials belonging to their respective owners.
References to television programs do not imply affiliation with or endorsement by their creators, networks, studios, or distributors.
The use of copyrighted material may be permitted under fair use or other applicable legal exceptions, depending on the circumstances.
Original Printables and Digital Products
CouchDegree.com may offer free educational printables, downloadable guides, and paid resources through Fourthwall or other platforms.
Each resource may include its own usage instructions or license terms.
Unless otherwise stated, downloading or purchasing a resource provides permission for personal use, not ownership of its copyright.
You may not resell, redistribute, upload, or republish these materials without authorization, except where permitted by applicable law or the resource's specific license.
If a resource provides broader permissions, those permissions will be stated in its accompanying terms.
Requesting Permission
If you'd like to use my original work in a way that requires permission, please email me.
Email: hello@couchdegree.com
When contacting me, please include the title or URL of the material you'd like to use, a brief explanation of how you intend to use it, where it will appear, and whether the use is commercial or noncommercial.
I'll review requests individually. Permission must be granted in writing before the proposed use unless the use is otherwise legally permitted.
Copyright Concerns
I make reasonable efforts to respect the intellectual property rights of others.
If you believe content published on CouchDegree.com infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact hello@couchdegree.com.
Include the material involved, the page URL, your contact information, and an explanation of your concern.
I will review good-faith reports and take appropriate action when warranted.
Questions?
I believe good ideas are worth sharing, and I'm pleased when readers find something useful enough to pass along.
All I ask is that the original work behind CouchDegree.com receive the same respect I try to give the people whose work I discuss.
If you have questions about sharing, quoting, or reusing my content, feel free to reach out.
