Characters & Human Behavior

I've always been fascinated by why people behave the way they do. And if there's one thing television has taught me, it's that fictional characters can be just as stubborn, selfish, generous, thoughtful, and downright ridiculous as the people we meet in real life.

I grew up watching characters like Archie Bunker, Andy Taylor, George Jefferson, and Mrs. Garrett. Some showed me what it means to be a decent human being. Others gave me a pretty good idea of what not to do. And some managed to do both, occasionally in the same episode.

Here at CouchDegree.com, I revisit memorable TV characters, their personalities, decisions, mistakes, and moments of growth. From classic sitcoms and family dramas to more recent television favorites, I explore what their behavior can teach us about ourselves, the people around us, and the fine art of being a mensch.
